Week 2 Lab 1-Exercise 1 (Toy Block Modelling)



First,you must set menu to polygons.Then chose cube,drag to set width and depth.After that drag to set height.Change the value of translateX,Y,Z as follow.Turn on the smooth shade all and wired frame to see the solid objects with edges.

Aftar that,hold the right click and chose edge.Move the cursor to the edge to see it highlighted.

Region select all the edges, then drag to select the object>spacebar>hotbox control >edit mesh>bevel.





The image is something like this with the edges that is not sharp but abit curve.This is in object mode.Then duplicate special. Dragging it out. So i have two rectangle.
Next,hide the original rectangle.




I select the split polygon tool.Then
i move the cursor over the top side edge of the block length-wise and click on it.
Move the cursor to the bottom side edge of the block length-wise and click again.
From the screenshot,it cna be seen that it is being split.With the green line seen as the seperation.






Hold the right-click menu and choose Edge>Hotbox choose Select > Select Edge Ring Tool.After that i must
double-click an edge on the top of one end to select the entire ring of edges going around the block depth-wise.
Follow by double-click the top edges on each side of the peak to select the edges along the sides.







Next by selecting all the edges.Imust press space bar,after that click on edit mesh and follow by bevel. So the images seen to have the edges being sharp at first to a more rounded one.









I then use duplicate special,and i drag out the other triangle.Next i must chose the status line make the object live.













I hide the other triangle.













Follow by, I use a cylinder, i set its radius then its height.Then i turn off make live. By aligning the both object in the centre.
















Then i select the cylinder and i press shift key to select the both object.
Choose Modify > Align Tool from the main menus.Next to align the pair of object using the display align icon.
















Then , i Click on the centering icons to place the cylinder in the center of the gable block depth-wise and width-wise. Then i
click on the bottom edge icon to place the side of the cylinder under the bottom of the gable block. This is to make it align with one on top the other.










I use the move too;
l and select the cylinder.After this i msut
follow the absolute Values display to Relative Transform.



Cetre the cylinder within the block,follow by entering a value to it.













I select the block, then press shift key to select the cylinder together.In the main menu, I chose mesh>boolean>difference.
This subtracts the cylinder from the gable block where they intersect.

I click right click. Then chose edge. After that i region select the whole block but to
deselect the edges connecting the cutouts, with the exception of the bottom edge.



This also include the vertical edges.



Follow by hotbox>editmesh>bevel.
This how it look like.

































After everything is done, I must
Display > Show > All to see the completed blocks. I also need to draw another square block and cylinder. With its width,height and depth.
